About
The History
This temple was consecrated on 7th June 1978 (07-06-1978) in the Tantric procedure, by the Thanthiri of Sabarimalai, Chengannur “Thazhamon Madom” Brahmashri Neelakantaru Thanthiri. It is noteworthy that the procedures and rituals followed in this temple are the same as what is followed in Sabarimalai.

The Mahakumbhabhishegham after Renovation

On Friday, the 11th of April 2025, the Punar-Uddhaarana Ashtabandhana Maha Kumbhabhishegham was performed to Lord Sri Ayyappan by the Golden Hands of "Thazhamon Madom" Brahmashri Mahesh Thanthiri, the hereditary priests of Sabarimalai. It is of significance that Brahmashri Mohanaru Thanthiri of Chengannur "Thazhamon Madom" is indeed the Thanthiri for our Madipakkam Sri Ayyappan Temple as well.

Annual Brahmothsavam
The 48th year Brahmothsavam of the Madipakkam Sri Ayyappan Temple is being celebrated from 17th Nov 2025 (Monday) to 27th Nov 2025 (Thursday). The Padi Pooja festival will extend upto 2nd Dec 2025 (Tuesday).

The celebrations will end on 3rd Dec 2025 (Wednesday) with a 1008 Sangaabhishegham to Lord Sri Ayyappa.

November 16, 2025
The "Kodiyettam" for the Brahmothsavam was performed by "Thazhamon Madom" Brahmashri Mohanaru Thanthiri, the hereditary priest family of Sabarimalai and the Thanthiri for our Temple.

October 27, 2025
As part of Skandha Shashti, "Sashti Kavacham" Paarayanam was performed in the morning. During the evenings, "Sri Subramanya Sahasra Naama Archanai" was performed.

October 2nd, 2025
On the Vijaya Dashami day, it is a custom at our Temple to distribute dresses to around 100 young girls (Kanya Ponnu). This year, this event was organized in Sri Sarva Siddhi Vinayagar Temple as well.
